It doesn’t matter if you want to call them bites, chunks or “wings” this crispy buffalo tofu is a recipe you will want to make again. Perfect for dipping in ranch as an appetizer or the star of a delicious sandwich, wrap or tacos. Crispy and saucy on the outside and tender on the inside with a little kick from the homemade buffalo sauce.
The two main stages of making this delicious crispy buffalo tofu are preparing the tofu and frying the tofu. After you drain the tofu you will marinate it for at least 30 minutes. The longer you marinate it the stronger the flavor will be. This step can be done the night before or morning of making the recipe to save time later on; just be sure to store the marinating tofu in a sealed container in the fridge. After marinating you will just roll in cornstarch, it’s a tad messy but a pretty simple process with no crazy ingredients.
When frying the tofu it is important to use oil intended for high heats like canola or peanut oil. I like to fry mine in a wok or sauce pan as the high sides reduce any splattering of oil. Be careful handling hot oil and where you place your paper towel drying station. Don’t be like me and catch paper towels on fire (true story). Crispy Buffalo Tofu doesn’t make the best leftovers as it gets a tad soggy, so cook just what you are going to eat and let the remaining tofu marinate.
Last but not least is smothering your crispy tofu in this delicious and easy to make buffalo sauce. Who knew homemade sauce would taste so great and only take a few minutes to make! Check out just the Vegan Buffalo Sauce recipe HERE!
