Use this Whole Food Plant Based shopping list to easily find WFPB vegan items at your ALDI store.

You may follow a whole-foods, plant-based diet as described by Forks over Knives or Dr. Greger’s How Not to Die Daily Dozen or maybe follow a plant based diet inspired by Dr. Esselystn, Dr. McDougall or Dr. Campbell. Even if you are just looking for some healthy vegan items, welcome. Here is a list of Whole Food Plant Based grocery items to find at your favorite discount supermarket – ALDI.

Whole Food Plant Based Aldi Shopping List

Frozen

  • Organic Fruit (strawberries, blueberries)
  • Fruit (berry blend, strawberries, blueberries, mixed, pineapple)
  • Organic Vegetables (sweet corn, peas, broccoli, chopped spinach)
  • Steamable Vegetables (broccoli stir fry, asian melody, sweet corn, green beans, mixed, asparagus, california blend, broccoli, brussel sprouts)
  • Vegetables (riced cauliflower, sweet peas)

Produce

  • Organic Fruit (apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, avocado, etc.)

A Few Notes:
Product selection may vary at your ALDI location.
Some produce items may be sold in bags and not individually like apples, lemon,onions, potatoes.
Some items may have added sugar – be sure to read labels.
Some items do contain salt. For the canned beans make sure to rinse thoroughly to remove as much salt as possible.
As always be sure to check labels to make sure items ingredients adhere to any specific dietary restrictions you may have.
Aldi has plant based milks like almond, coconut and soymilk which may not be WFPB compliant but are definitely vegan.  

 

Here are some easy WFPB recipe ideas with the listed ingredients

  • burrito bowl – brown rice, beans, tomatoes, cilantro, corn
  • oatmeal – quick oats, maple syrup, berries
  • smoothie – frozen fruit, spinach, banana, peanut butter
  • pasta – whole wheat pasta, marinara, broccoli
  • salad – chopped kale, romaine, chickpeas, dried cranberries, bell pepper

I’ve been using Aldi for the last year for 90-95% of my wfpb groceries. I used to be a regular patron of both Harris Teeter and Trader Joe’s. These were my go to stores. Now Aldi in tops and anything I can’t get from there, I get from either HT or TJ’s. I’ve adopted a wfpb diet as part of a weight loss program and have lost close to 90 lbs. I plan on staying with this way of eating from now on.
