Donut worry this post is all about happiness… or vegan donuts, pretty much the same thing right? Us Chicago vegans love a treat just like anybody else. As much as I focus on a whole foods plant based diet it is great to know there are so many places I can stop in and indulge in a vegan goody. Here is my list of places to find a some sugar-coated happiness in the form of vegan donuts in Chicago.
Do-Rite Donuts
The vegan donuts here are a great price at only $1.95 a piece, now that’s sweet. Do-rite donuts has locations in the West Loop, the Loop and Streeterville. 3 vegan varieties are available daily. The current selection includes Spiced Maple Chai, Orange Olive Oil and Vegan Double Chocolate. Do-rite is my current favorite as their donuts are well priced and they always have 3 great vegan flavors.
Stans
Stan’s boast the most locations from Wicker Park, Lakeview and Millenium Park just to name a few. Here you can get a Sugar Vegan or Cinnamon Sugar Vegan donut for $2.75.
Firecakes
You can find Firecakes in River North and Lincoln Park. They offer a Dark Chcolate Gluten Free & Vegan donut for $3.75. It is a dense chocolaty donut topped with chocolate mousse and coconut.
Smack Dab
Smack Dab is a breakfast spot on Clark in Rodgers Park where you can sit down, pick up or get delivery. Smack dab not only has 3 flavors of vegan donuts daily but a variety of vegans sweets like coffee cake and muffins and savory items like focaccia, veggie hash bowls, rice bowls, scrambles and more. The donut flavors change daily but expect either cinnamon sugar or cocoa spice with two rotating glaze options for $1.65 ea or 3 for $4.50.
11 Degrees North
11 Degrees North is a small cafe in Lakeview with a beachy vibe. Here you can find not only a small selection of vegan donuts as well as vegan brownie, bagels, sandwich, and smoothies. I tried the Palm Shade Arepas which was portabella mushroom, hummus, red onion, heart of palms, avocado and spring mix.
West Town Bakery
West Town Bakery & Diner in West Town serves up comfort diner classics as wells as having vegan donuts, muffins, scones, cupcakes and more. Their newest location is in Wrigleyville.
Wheat’s End Cafe
Wheat’s End Cafe is a Gluten Free Cafe in Lakeview. There menu offers a few vegan breakfast and lunch options. Their chocolate, pumpkin, coconut, strawberry almond and orange spice donuts are vegan.
Damn Fine Coffee Bar
Damn Fine Coffee is a little coffee shop in Logan Square. They offer vegan donuts from Do-Rite donuts.
Wormhole Coffee
Wormhole is a coffee shop in Wicker Park. They sell vegan donuts from Do-Rite Donuts, scones from Scone City and vegan banana nut muffins from Dollop Bakeshop.
Sip of Hope Coffee Bar
Sip of Hope is a coffee shop in Logan Square where 100% of the proceeds support proactive suicide prevention and mental health education. They sell 2 vegan options daily from West Town Bakery.
Jackalope Coffee & Tea House
You can find vegan donuts on Saturday’s at this Bridgeport coffee shop.
